Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 042 - Antique "Paris" Illustrated Folio, Japan Edition, Section IV, with Color Plates, Circa 1900, 12" L x 17" H
Antique large folio volume titled "Paris," Japan Edition, Section IV, with a numbered copy designation on the title page beneath the coat of arms of Paris. The interior includes color illustrations after watercolors, including a medieval Parisian fete scene after Andre Cabanet among others. The front cover features a printed vignette of a standing figure holding a heraldic shield with the motto "Nec Pluribus Impar" and a monogram beneath. The binding has a blue spine and corners with cream paper-covered boards. Fabric ties are present.
The spine and corners show wear, scuffing, and surface loss. The paper boards show soiling and edge wear. The ties are frayed. The interior pages show light toning but the illustrations are clean.
