This is a police arrest card featuring a mounted photograph depicting Charles Murphy in profile and frontal views, with prisoner number 10,603 displayed on placards in each view. The card is stamped "Duplicate No. 121" in ink. Bertillon measurements were taken at Charlestown, Massachusetts, on July 10, 1890. The reverse bears printed headings for the Massachusetts State Prison, registration number 10,603. Murphy was arrested for breaking and entering and sentenced to three years. His age is listed as 30 years, born in Nova Scotia, with dark chestnut hair, dark chestnut beard, sallow complexion, weight of 140 pounds, and medium slender build. Marks, scars, and moles include a boil, scars on the hand, and a tattoo of a girl standing on a ball below the elbow on the front of the arm. Photograph and card show age toning, edge wear, and surface marks consistent with age and handling.
