Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 149 - Grouping Of 17 Antique Board-Mounted Photographs Including Natural Bridge Of Virginia, Landmarks Of Schuylerville New York, New Castle New Hampshire Views Photographed By Davis Bros Of Portsmouth, And Seascapes
The grouping comprises 17 antique board-mounted photographs depicting coastal landscapes, rural and town views, architectural subjects, and natural landmarks across multiple locations. Five photographs are identified in handwritten notations as views of Schuylerville, New York, in Saratoga County: the Gen. Schuyler Mansion, the historic home of Revolutionary War General Philip Schuyler and father-in-law of Alexander Hamilton; the Reformed Dutch Church, shown through mature trees with its columned portico and steeple; Fish Creek at the back of Harrison Mill, depicting a rocky, fast-moving stream through dense tree cover; the west bridge from the entrance of Fish Creek, showing a metal truss bridge spanning a wide, calm river; and Creamery Hill on Harrison Avenue, depicting a stone-paved walkway leading from a wooden dock on the water toward a tree-lined road rising uphill. Two photographs depict the Natural Bridge of Virginia, each from a slightly different vantage point through the rocky gorge with the arch spanning overhead, one on a cream mount and one on a dark gilt-bordered mount. A group of New Castle, New Hampshire views photographed by Davis Bros of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Additional views include ocean surf scenes — one showing breaking waves along an open beach, another with rocky outcroppings amid churning water — as well as a calm harbor or tidal river view with a rowboat in the foreground and multi-story clapboard buildings on the far bank. Additional photographs in the grouping, also attributable to the New Castle and Portsmouth area, include two circular-vignette prints on dark mounts depicting an open common with houses in the distance and a man standing before a split-rail fence in winter snow; a tree-lined residential street receding to a vanishing point; a wooded lane with overarching trees; a rural dirt road bordered by a dry stone wall; and a large wooden grandstand or bleacher structure under construction at a sports or fairground field. A vine-covered residential house photographed from across a lawn also appears in the grouping. Mounts vary from cream to dark brown with gilt borders. The display stand pictured is not included.
