Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 110 - Grouping of Five Antique Board-Mounted Photographs of New England and California Homes, Including a House Inscribed "Our Little Home, Los Angeles, California, 1897," And a Print of John Greenleaf Whittier's Fire-Damaged House
Grouping of six antique board-mounted items depicting residential properties. Five are photographs: one shows a large clapboard house with a wraparound porch, a horse-drawn carriage at left, and several figures on the porch and grounds; a second depicts a street view of two clapboard houses set behind picket fencing with a gas street lamp at the curb; a third shows a two-story farmhouse with four figures posed on the lawn; a fourth depicts a clapboard house with a wide wraparound porch and outbuilding; and a fifth shows a wood-frame house with a pyramidal roof and a large palm tree, the verso inscribed "Our little home. Los Angeles. Calif." and dated "1897." The sixth item is a dot matrix print, likely removed from a book, depicting the fire-damaged home of poet John Greenleaf Whittier, showing the structure with its roof burned away, viewed from a dirt road lined with a split-rail fence.
Condition varies across the group. The photographs show toning, fading, and wear to boards consistent with age. The dot matrix print shows toning and handling wear. The display stands shown are not included.
