Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 148 - Grouping Of Four Antique Board-Mounted Photographs Of York Beach, Maine, August 1892, Including Coasting Parade At Long Sands, Double-Decker Omnibus, Four-Horse Coach, And Hotel Bartlett, Photographed By Ralph H. Foote, Lowell, Mass
The grouping comprises four antique board-mounted photographs taken at York Beach, Maine, in August 1892, each inscribed on the verso to Helen C. Pender and attributed to Ralph H. Foote of Lowell, Massachusetts. One photograph depicts a double-decker horse-drawn omnibus viewed broadside, with a group of passengers seated along the open upper deck and a brass band with instruments visible through the openings of the enclosed lower level. A second photograph shows a four-horse team drawing a large open wagon carrying a group of passengers with parasols, photographed on an open sandy ground. A third photograph is inscribed on the recto "Snap Shot - Coasting Parade / Long Sands York Beach" and depicts a line of women in summer dress with elaborately decorated hats, a horse-drawn float behind them and a man mounted on horseback at right; this image and two others carry a notation — on the recto or verso — reading "Film 'hazed' over by heat in developing," accounting for the soft and milky quality of the affected prints. The fourth photograph shows Hotel Bartlett, a large Victorian seaside hotel complex with a central observation tower, multiple gabled rooflines, American flags flying from poles in front, and a windmill-style water tower at right. The verso of the parade photograph additionally identifies subjects as Helen Pender (Boynton), Sadie Parsons (Morris), and a party from Springfield. Photographed by Ralph H. Foote, Lowell, Massachusetts. Mounts are cream. The display stand pictured is not included.
