Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 145 - Grouping Of Six Antique Board-Mounted Photographs Of Large Outdoor Group Gatherings, Including Ox Cart Scene With African American Woman, Porch Group With African American Domestic Staff, And Multi-Generational Assembly Before Farmstead
The grouping comprises six antique board-mounted photographs depicting large outdoor social assemblies and group portraits. One photograph shows a mixed group posed on and around a residential porch, including an African American woman among the subjects, several of whom wear aprons and caps consistent with domestic service attire. A second photograph depicts a street scene with a group of men, women, and children gathered around a two-wheeled ox cart; an African American woman stands at the side of the cart, with additional onlookers arranged behind, and a church steeple visible in the background. A third photograph presents a large multi-generational assembly of men, women, and children posed in a broad line before a two-story farmstead, several young children seated on stools at the front. A fourth photograph, significantly faded, shows a mixed group of women, men, and children gathered on or near a latticed porch. A fifth photograph depicts a very large outdoor gathering of men, women, and children arranged in tiers before a spreading tree. The sixth photograph shows a large multi-generational group posed on a lawn before a white clapboard building, a dog visible at the front among the seated figures, with additional figures visible through an open doorway and a window at right. Mounts vary from cream to tan. No photographer markings are visible. The display stand pictured is not included.
