Lot 098 - Grouping of Six Antique Celluloid Copy Negatives Including Tom Thumb and Lavinia Warren, Boston Corbett, Laura Le Claire, Pauline Cushman, and Belle Boyd
Grouping of six celluloid copy negatives depicting Civil War-era and notable 19th-century figures. Identified subjects include General Tom Thumb and his wife Lavinia Warren, Boston Corbett (the soldier who shot John Wilkes Booth), dancer Laura Le Claire (labeled as copied from a Brady negative, dated 1866), Pauline Cushman (labeled "Confederate Spy"), and Belle Boyd. One negative is unidentified.
Several negatives have handwritten labels on attached paper strips identifying the subjects. The Laura Le Claire negative has a chipped corner. The Belle Boyd negative is extensively cracked and fractured. The remaining negatives show varying degrees of surface wear and handling marks. Offered as found with no guarantee of completeness or condition.
