Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 140 - Pair Of Antique Board-Mounted School Class Photographs, Including Wedgwood School, Rye Center, New Hampshire, Circa 1885-1895, Photographed By A.E. Alden, Boston, Massachusetts
A pair of antique board-mounted school class photographs depicting groups of children posed outdoors before school building exteriors. The first shows approximately 20 children and one adult woman posed in rows before a brick building facade, with no photographer's imprint visible (8-1/2" x 5-1/4"). The second, on an orange-bordered mount, depicts a larger group of approximately 40 children arranged in three rows on benches before a clapboard building; a handwritten note identifies this as the Wedgwood School, Rye Center, New Hampshire, with a notation of approximately 1923, though clothing styles, photographic format, and mount type are consistent with a circa 1885–1895 date (7" x 4"). The photographer's imprint on the second mount reads "A.E. Alden, Boston, Massachusetts."
Photographed by A.E. Alden, Boston, Massachusetts (second photograph).
Condition includes toning, soiling, and edge wear to both mounts, with foxing and handling marks consistent with age.
