Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 009 - Pair of Modern Greek Orthodox Icons of Saint Vasilios and Saint Barbara with Gilded Backgrounds, Red Borders
This pair consists of modern Greek Orthodox icon prints featuring Saint Vasilios and Saint Barbara on wood panels with red painted borders.
Both icons feature recessed central panels with extensive gold leaf backgrounds. The reverse of each icon shows certificates of authenticity affixed to the wood backing. The larger icon's certificate is multilingual, appearing in English, German, Italian, and Greek, referencing Byzantine style iconography from the Athonite Ecclesiastical Academy at Mount Athos. This reverse also displays handwritten inscriptions in Greek, a date notation of "29.09.2003," and a red wax seal marked "HAND MADE." Metal hanging loops are present on both pieces.
The icons show minor surface wear to the gilded areas and slight aging to the wood panels consistent with handling and display. These are prints and not original paintings.
