Pictorial review of notable theatrical successes featuring drawings and portraits of celebrated players of the American stage. Copyright 1901 by Robert Howard Russell. Contains numerous full-page photogravure portraits of actresses and actors including works by artists such as Archie Gunn. Front cover features decorative design with central portrait medallion flanked by comedy and tragedy masks within laurel wreath. Rear cover bears publisher's monogram with theatrical mask motifs. Bears previous owner's inscription dated May 10, 1912 on half-title page. Craft grade: covers heavily soiled and worn with losses at edges and corners, spine covering largely perished with visible stitching and text block separating from boards, pages toned with water staining throughout, suitable for plates or parts only.
