Antique 18th century poetry book titled “Poems on Several Occasions; to Which Is Added Gondibert and Birtha, a Tragedy,” by William Thompson, M.A., late Fellow of Queen’s College, Oxford. Printed at Oxford at the Theatre, MDCCLVII (1757). Includes classical translations, odes, occasional poems, and dedicatory material to the Countess of Northumberland. With engraved architectural vignette on title page. Debossed gilt acorn design on spine.
Condition notes: original full leather binding present on spine and back cover, but front cover is not present; significant wear and losses to leather on spine and corners; old spine label partially intact; scattered foxing and toning throughout; some edge wear to pages; interior hinges fully split; staining on endpapers. Text block remains complete.
