Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Trio of antique and vintage hardcover books. "Myths of Greece and Rome" by H. A. Guerber is subtitled "Narrated with Special Reference to Literature and Art," published by American Book Company, New York, Cincinnati, and Chicago, 1893. The book is bound in brown cloth with gilt spine lettering and contains illustrations. The front endpaper bears the ink signatures of Allan Woodcock with "South Appleton" noted, a crossed-out school property stamp marked "Sold," and additional pencil names. The cloth is worn with fraying at the spine ends and corners, and the hinges are loose.
"The Enchanting Witch" by M. J. Farrell (pen name of Molly Keane) was first published in England under the title "Loving Without Tears." This is the American edition, copyright 1951, designed by Maurice Serle Kaplan and manufactured by Vail-Ballou Press, Inc., Binghamton, New York. The book retains its green pictorial dust jacket, which shows edge wear, small tears, and toning.
"5,000 Most-Used Shorthand Forms" is bound in green cloth with the Gregg Publishing Company monogram on the front cover. The interior contains shorthand forms with corresponding English words. The cloth shows minor wear at the corners and edges.
