Published by Houghton Mifflin Company, The Riverside Press, Cambridge, 1911. Illustrated throughout with color plates by E. Boyd Smith depicting scenes from Dana’s sea voyage and the California hide trade. Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering and nautical anchors, featuring a color pictorial cover illustration of a sailing ship. Binding split along the inner hinge, exposing spine webbing; moderate foxing to front plates; wear and rubbing to edges and corners of covers consistent with age and use.
