Lot 078 - Vintage Framed Polychrome Print After "The Good Shepherd" By Josef August Untersberger, Signed Giovanni, Christ With Flock Of Sheep, 16-1/4" x 9-1/8"
Vintage horizontal polychrome print after "The Good Shepherd" by Josef August Untersberger, who occasionally signed his work as Giovanni, as is the case here with a signature visible in the lower left corner. The composition depicts Christ seated in a pastoral landscape holding a lamb in his arms with a shepherd's crook resting beside him. A flock of sheep surrounds him in a green meadow with a sunset sky in the background. Christ is depicted with a halo, flowing brown hair, and dark blue and pink robes. The print is housed in a white-painted carved wood frame with scroll molding and a dark inner lip. The frame shows significant paint loss, chipping, and exposed wood at the corners and edges. The print surface shows light soiling and dust accumulation.
