Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 017 - Vintage German Halloween Devil Candy Container Figure with Painted Papier-Mache Head, Chenille Trim, and Fabric-Handled Lid, 8" H
Vintage German Halloween devil figure constructed with a painted papier-mache head atop a cylindrical red body. The head features black horns, pointed ears, painted green eyes, a bulbous nose, painted black eyebrows and whiskers, and white painted teeth. The body is covered in red textured paper and trimmed with black chenille, with black chenille buttons on the front. The figure has small red painted hands and black boots. A hinged circular lid on each side of the cylindrical body has a fabric loop handle, providing access to the hollow interior for use as a candy container.
The figure shows paint loss and surface wear to the head, minor soiling, and some fraying to the chenille and fabric elements.
We were unable to locate another example of this specific figure and are unsure of its precise age or maker. It is estimated to date from the mid to late 20th century.
