Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 012 - Vintage Snakes and Ladders Board Game and Box, Spear's Games, Manufactured at the Spear Works, Bavaria, Designed in England, 12-1/2" L
Vintage Snakes and Ladders board game and box by Spear's Games. The box lid features a colorful illustration of a snake charmer with children and snakes amid ladders. Marked "Trademark Registered in Spear's Games Great Britain and Canada" and "Manufactured at the Spear Works Bavaria Copyright Designed in England."
The game includes a folding game board numbered 1 through 100 with illustrated vignettes at select squares, a printed rules sheet, a cylindrical dice shaker, a die, and colored disc playing pieces. The rules sheet identifies each ladder and snake by moral virtue or vice (e.g., "Meekness," "Bad Temper," "Retribution").
Dating is estimated to the mid-20th century based on construction, printing style, and markings, though the production period for this design could range from the 1930s through the 1950s.
The box shows edge and corner wear with rubbing and loss to the red paper covering. The board has wear along the center fold. The interior contents show general age-related wear. Offered as found with no guarantee of completeness.
